Tyler Vickrey, Boudreaux Cellars assistant winemaker, joined our team in the fall of 2007. Being a close family friend of the Newsoms, Tyler has seen the winery develop from its beginning. Tyler moved to the Pacific Northwest from Shreveport, Louisiana and attended Western Washington University in 1998.
While studying for a degree in business, Tyler developed a business plan for opening a small chain of retail cellular stores. From 2001 to 2006, he owned and operated three retail cellular stores in King and Chelan counties. After selling his business in 2006, Tyler relocated to Leavenworth, Washington, to be closer to family and to the outdoor activities he enjoys. As the winery and production levels have grown, I was in need of help in the winemaking and everyday operations of the winery.
Knowing Tyler's passion for wine and the interest in the industry, I asked Tyler to come on board and start training as an assistant winemaker. Without a winemaking background, Tyler has developed his skills by on the job training. Tyler now manages the wine cellar and tasting room, as well as, assists in all winemaking processes. Tyler has been a great addition to the winery.
